Joe Kuether has won the WSOPC Harrah’s Rincon, after overcoming a field of 332 players over three days to win a gold ring, and collect the $111,104 first place prize.

Joe Kuether’s victory in San Diego, California follows recent wins at the Wynn Classic series, in which he collected around $20k a piece for two $500 entry tournaments. Along with other cashes in 2012, Joe Kuether has now taken his year earnings so far to an impressive $191,083.

The $1,600 WSOPC tournament attracted a whole slew of pros hoping to carve out a slice of the $483,060 prize pool. Amongst those falling along the way were Gavin Smith, Bryan Devonshire, Fabrice Soulier, Dennis Phillips, Scott Clements, and Gavin Griffin.

Dropping just short of the final table were Eric Baldwin (16th) and Brandon Cantu (11th), but emerging top of the high profile pros was the two times WSOP winner Freddy Deeb who started the nine man final table as the chip leader.

However, Deeb suffered a series of hits, not least from Joe Kuether who took the chip lead with 9-8 on a J-7-10 flop, with Deeb then paying him off on every street. Four handed play subsequently saw Kuether eliminate Deeb (Ac-Jc) who pushed his short-stack into Kuether’s A-K.

Chris Cronin then sent Ryan Gentry to the rail in 3rd ($50,108) and took a slight advantage into the heads-up phase of the competition, but Kuether managed to take the lead before the defining hand was played.

Veronika Pavlikova has won the France Poker Series, after overcoming a field of 296 players over three days to lift the title, and collect the €70,000 ($93,387) top prize.

What makes Veronika’s victory all the more impressive is that the young Czech winner was an 18 year girl amongst a field of predominantly male players, which has lead to comparisons being made between herself and Norway’s poker legend Annette Obrestad, who won the 2007 WSOPE Main Event at the same tender age.

However, the highly aggressive Veronika Pavlikova had different ideas and a while later eliminated Darcourt (Qc-Jc) in 4th  (€21,160) holding A-9 before seeing off the remaining competition and going heads-up against Ludovic Marguerat.

All the same, the one sided affair was soon over after the players were all-in with Veronika’s A-6 up against the 10s-7s of her opponent. The board subsequently fell 4-6-A-10-K consigning Ludovic Marguerat to a runner-up spot worth €43,500, while Veronika Pavlikova picked-up her first tournament victory and was declared the 2012 FPS Snowfest Champion.
